Frequently Asked Questions

Are there public restrooms at bus stops?
Restrooms are available for supermarket customers at Star Market in Harwich and the Harwich Chamber of Commerce in Harwich Port, the Salt Pond Visitor Center at Cape Cod National Seashore in Eastham as well as MacMillan Pier in Provincetown. Other stops do not have public restrooms, so please plan your trip accordingly.
May I flag down the Flex anywhere along its route as I can with other Breeze buses?
Yes and No. You may flag the Flex anywhere along its route except along Rte. 6 where safety concerns prohibit flagging. Along Rte. 6, the bus driver cannot pick you up or drop you off at a location other than the stops listed in the schedule.

Please schedule an off-route trip by calling RTA Customer Service at 800 352-7155 if you need a special pick-up or drop off location within ¾ of a mile of the Flex route.
If I want to drive to a Flex stop, where can I find parking?
Please park only in designated areas:
  • Harwich Port - town lot behind the Chamber of Commerce. Walk across the street to the bus stop on Rte. 28 in Harwich Port.
  • Eastham - Town Hall lot on Rte. 6
  • Provincetown - Paid parking at MacMillan Pier
  • Wellfleet - Parking in the lot near Town Hall
  • Brewster - Council on Aging on Route 6A; overflow parking at the ballfield at the rear of the Town Water Department.
Can I take my bike on the Flex?
Each bus has space for up to two bicycles. There is no cost to bring your bike on Flex or any other Breeze bus. The driver will tell you how to secure your bike on the bus rack.
Can I take my pet along on Flex?
Only service animals are allowed on the Flex bus.
I am taking a trip to the grocery store, and it will only take 10 minutes or less. Will Flex wait for me?
The Flex follows a tight schedule and cannot wait. During most the day, another bus will come along in an hour or so. Alternatively, you can schedule an off-route Flex trip or use the RTA's by-reservation b-bus service. To find out more, call RTA Customer Service at 800 352-7155.
How do I pay my fare?
Exact change is required to ride the Flex and all Breeze buses so plan ahead. Drivers do not carry change. Each Flex ride is $2; if you take an off-route trip, you will be charged an additional $2. Seniors, 60 and older, and riders with disabilities pay half fare.
May I buy a discount pass if I ride often?
Yes, the driver sells what is called a Transit Pass. It is good for 20 rides at a 25 percent discount off the regular fare.
